Home Extensions Title Manager

Title Manager

With this plugin, you can display your site name in page titles. It’s able to display the site name before or after the content title and use a custom separator. You can specify a different name to use in title, if you want.

It's available in English, Turkish, Dutch and German. Please note that if you don't have some of these languages installed you will see some notices after installation. You can safely ignore them.

Instructions

First of all, go to plugin manager after installion and publish "System - Title Manager". There are a few parameters you can use.
You can use alternative site name parameter if you don't want to use the site name in Global Configuration.
For separator, you should use {s} instead of spaces in the beginning or ending of the string. This is to avoid trimming of these spaces.
Other parameters are self-explainatory.

  1. Great plugin! But the separator doesn't support the character | which I really need in my title. It keeps adding a slash at the beginning like \| Any suggestions? Or will the plugin need to be updated? Thanks!

    Dan on 22 July 2008 23:27
  2. Dan, I don't think the character issue is in this plugin. I have been beating my head against the wall on a website with the same problem that until I saw your comment. It seems to be an issue with Joomla itself.

    Jeff on 25 July 2008 15:54
  3. I'll try to take a look at the | issue. Even if it's a Joomla! issue that can be bypassed by using a temporary fix. I'll be back with some news in a few days.

  4. I have installed this on a 1.5.3 site. Installation went flawless. Now I try to use it on a 1.5.5 site and I get the following errors": * JInstaller::install: The language file 'tr-TR.plg_system_titlemanager.ini' could not be installed because the Administrator language package for 'tr-TR' has not been installed or does not exist. * JInstaller::install: The language file 'de-DE.plg_system_titlemanager.ini' could not be installed because the Administrator language package for 'de-DE' has not been installed or does not exist. I don't know if this is due to the new Joomla version, though. Can I safely remove these files from the package and remove the reference in the xml file? regards, Kor

  7. Does this plugin to work under 1.5.5 with sh404SEF 1.0.11_Beta_build_147? My tags come out just they way they did before I installed it. I enabled the plugin. Thanks, Graham

    Graham on 06 August 2008 05:49
  8. This is a great plugin, but doesn't appear to work with sh404SEF 1.0.11 as mentioned above. I am just confirming this as I have the same problem.

  10. Hi there dudes. You (Martin, Graham) need to disable the META tag rewriter in sh404sef options. After this change, it'll work.

  12. Super easy installation and does the work as it should! I got three errormassages during the installation, all of them were about langugagepacks missing... I ignored them and everyting works anyway (so far).

  13. I've installed the plug-in to my site and it's working. But when I save a page through a social bookmarking tool (e.g.delicious) the site name is not saved. Rather only the page name is saved. Is this a shortcoming of the plug-in?

  18. It's adding my site name to the end of each title tag but it's also adding it to the front of the tag. So now the tag appears as Websitename - title | Website name. Am I doing something wrong?

  21. Hi Erkan Thank you very much for this plugin. Installed on Joomla 1.5.6 and works perfect. Even the "|" sign is no problem. Excact what I was looking for.

  22. It, like the other plugin out now, didnt work for me and it came down to the sh404SEF. I simply went to config > meta/seo tab and put the name needed in the "Insert before page title" area (or after). The plugin is still cool for anyone with other SEF components or none.

    Vimes on 18 September 2008 03:54
  23. Hi, The site name is appearing twice before the page title! So, for example, on my portfolio page I have: Site Name - Site Name - Portfolio And on the home page, I have: Site Name - Site Name I'm also using sh404SEF, but I've turned off the Meta/SEO thing as was previously suggested. Thanks!! Dave.

  24. Hello, I was able to install Title Manager OK and have used it successfully on other sites. t is great! However, on my latest 1.5 site it installs OK, but after I enable it, I get Warning: JLoader::include() [function.include]: Failed opening '/home/ramsay/public_html/libraries/joomla/plugin/plugin.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/ramsay/public_html/libraries/loader.php on line 83 at the top of front end page. Any ideas?

  25. Is the developer even checking the comments? Doesn't appear so. The plugin does not work and there is absolutely NO SUPPORT for it. Disappointing.

    Jake on 02 October 2008 21:47
  26. Hi Jake, The developer indeed checks comments from time to time. But it's not developer's responsibility if sh404SEF breaks this plugin's functionality when he's not using that component or if the issue is completely unrelated to this component. And as a lot of people (including myself) are using this plugin, there is no need to state that the plugin does not work. Sorry if this plugin didn't suit your needs, hope you will find what you are looking for. Regards, Ercan

  49. Hello, thanks for this extension, it works very good also with joomfish, I tried and there is no problem. Maybe if you have a problem try to change it in the joomfish language configuration, there you can change the title... Another question Ercan, could you please tell me which commenting system you use, it looks very simple and beautful. I would be grateful if you could tell me, thanks a lot! Kind Regards Michael

  60. I have a problem displaying the instructions properly; it just says TM_DESCRIPTION, TM_ALTERNATIVE and so on. I had to install this plugin manually since the server we're using has some crazy permissions problems. I added an entry in the database and uploaded the two main files to plugins/system. I then uploaded the en-GB language file to language/en-GB. But it's not displaying the language text, only the placeholders. Do I need to do something to get those displaying?

  63. Thanks for updating your site with the "donate" button Ercan! As a web designer (not really a programmer) I am happy to support the generous work of people like you! Perhaps our world can learn from the "open source" way. I hope others will follow my lead - you deserve to be compensated for your time and generosity.

  64. I fixed my previous problem (the language file needed to go in the administrator/language/en-GB folder). But now I've noticed a problem. On wrapper pages, the plugin takes the page title from the main "Title" part of my menu, not the "Page title" attribute in Paramters-System Please allow me to use a different page title from my menu link!

  112. This doesn't really manage page titles, unless I'm missing something. It manages to put the SITE name of your choice preceding or following your existing page titles. I hope I'm wrong and get flamed for being a dunce, but I don't see how to manage my page titles. SITE name addition, yes, page title management, not really. Please tell me I'm wrong.
